i’ve been keeping an eye on the brand “timeless” for awhile now. i’ve seen its’  products before but didn’t like it because it seemed like it was done before. there are so many boutiques out there that make sick tees–you have to find a niche.

but concept wise, i think you guys have finally done it. i don’t like the colors so much but i like the idea.

Jang Dong-Kun just finished the filming for his Hollywood debut movie THE WARRIORS WAY (originally titled The Laundry Warrior)–coming to theaters near you AUGUST 2009!

the release of the movie in Hollywood will mean a lot for korean americans & for koreans in korea. it’ll most def. be sold crazy if you guys took it over there at the release of it–also cos that shirt isn’t something koreans will make. & korean americans can wear it to the movie. also, i hear there are some crazy fans in japan too. work it.

i’m starting to get sick of all the super club-y+electronic beat+t-pain/snoopdog voice tuning that everyone’s abusing–kind of music. it’s good for the dance floor i guess but they’re all starting to sound way too similar.

you know that the economy’s bad when the company producing circus animal cookies is out of business. if you’re a fan, go stock up! or you can just wait ’til Kellogg’s makes them–apparently they bought the brand and recipe. i know that 21 choices has some.

so i’ve been listening to kanye west’s new song “flight school” ft. t-pain.

i’ve been singing along & dancing to whenever it came on–whether it was at a party or on power 106. 

recently i thought i heard something so i went back to it over and over again and then decided to look up the lyrics and found this line:

“So I close my eyes tighter than asian eyes”

i know that he spoke out about his hatred for Bush, especially after the hurricane katrina incident & that he’s been also infamous for saying lots of racist comments about white people & some other things like calling mixed people “mutts” [which you can read all about in this article] but that line really just kinda made me say what the fuck?

i know its already everywhere in the media, but it bugs me most because he’s a person that’s so outspoken about racism against black people. i guess kanyewest would’ve liked M.L. King to ask the government to take out the black people in colored and keep it segregated with black vs. white & the rest of the colored population.

i’m not going to judge him on the basis of one song. 
but for him to put out something like that into a song where a lot of people listen to & may think its okay to run around pulling their eyes back at asians one drunk night cos they think its funny is not okay–and this is the kind of thing that he’s supporting. god forbid a nonblack rapper says anything remotely similar to that line, he/she’d probably get so much shit for being racist.

The last couple days I got a lot of traffic for searches on Daniel Henney after it was announced on April 1, 2009 that there was a leak of the “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” (2009) film online.

“Fox said the leaked version is an early rough cut and is missing some scenes. The version also features temporary sound and music and a darker appearance than the finished footage.” For more info on the Friedman loosing his job & about the FBI investigations, keyword “Wolverine” at the variety.com

But from what I hear, he’s done a great job:

He plays an important role in the first half of the movie and gets a lot of screen time which is unusual for a minor character like his in the movie. He gets more screen time than the Hobbit/lost star Dominic Monaghan, Will.I.Am, Ryan Reynolds, the Blob/lost star Kevin Durand, Gambit/Friday Night Lights star Taylor Kitsch, and Wolverine’s lover Lynn Collins. As the leaked film is a rough cut, it’s possible that they may cut more scenes of Danny or add. It’s unclear. But I’ve been told that the camera tends to pan over to Danny for his reactions to certain situations where it was unnecessary–which can only be good for our star. But for now he’s getting a lot of screen time that might help him land his next role in Hollywood.  

In terms of acting, I’ve been told that his acting is much better than his acting in Korean Drama’s and films because he’s acting in the language that he’s more comfortable with. Additionally, his acting was really different from his typical “Handsome, rich, man with a Korean mom” roles. One scene in particular may incite Wolverine lovers to hate his character, but his acting was pretty good.

Personally, I can’t wait to see him on the big screen when it comes out on May 1, 2009. It would be my way of showing support for his Hollywood venture and its exciting to be able to see his handsome face on the big screen in the U.S. 

As the movie is titled “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, it would be interesting if the directors went into “X-Men Origins: Maverick”. I can see the entire franchise already on just showing origins of each character. Maverick is Agent Zero’s (Daniel Henney’s role) real name in the X-Men series. Could that possibly be Daniel Henney’s first lead-role movie? The storyline is well developed and will be good for Danny to show off his acting. The Wikipedia article on Maverick gives a really good background if you want to read up on that or know where his character is coming from.

Other than that, it seems there will be a Wolverine sequel being shot in Japan.  

Head out to theaters May 1, 2009! & Box office numbers will really help our babyboy  Daniel Henney.

So how’s Danny reacting? not sure. For now, he’s scheduled to promote the upcoming movie with Wolverine in Korea for a dating show “Golden Miss”. This picture from seoulbeats.com shows that they’re all smiles for now–in theaters in Korea 4/30.

Some weeks ago, I attended a screening for a documentary called “I <3 Hip Hop In Morocco”. At the end of it there was a Q&A session with the man behind the camera and the project, Josh Asen. Although I don’t speak or understand either Arabic or French, I fully appreciated what the documentary was trying to achieve as well as the hip hop heads that represented the kind of hip hop culture that was real to the Moroccan youth. I also came to love the kind of melodies and beats used by H-Kayne and Fnaire.

It’s a pretty tight documentary about “a determined group of Moroccan Hip Hop hopefuls [that] band together to create their country’s first Hip Hop festival, a celebration of music, unity, and free speech”.

If from this I can’t get you to go check it out, just know you’re really missing out.

I really liked it ‘cos it got me thinking about how hip hop culture is translated and tailored/recreated to fit different cultures.  Planet B-boy has portrayed the break dancing communities from different places of the world like France, South Korea, and Brazil. In life, we don’t think too much about the positive impact of hip hop culture and what it means to us and does for us as an individual.

1. Kang Hye-Jeong – The Wedding Palace (2009)
AKA EpikHigh Tablo’s girlfriend, and also famous for her part in Oldboy (2003) as Mi-Do and her success in Welcome to Dong-mak-gol (recent), her name is cast in IMDB as apart of this project with Brian Tee, Bobby Lee, and Margaret Cho. It’s in the process of filming so it’s hard to say whether it’ll find life on the big screen or go straight to DVD, but keep posted on updates.

2. Jang Dong-Kun - The Warrior’s Way (August 2009)
As main lead in the movie. Previously titled “The Laundry Warrior” (which I liked way better than the typical “warrior’s way”-how lame is that?). Featuring Pirates of the Carribean’s Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) and Kate Bosworth. It’s just a little liver-urking that A-List Jang Dong-kun’s female lead is Kate Bosworth. 
 

3. Daniel Henney – X-Men Origins: Wolverine (May 1, 2009)
As David North “Agent Zero”, a minor part, alongside with Hugh Jackman.

4. Jeon Ji-Hyun (Gianna Jun) – Blood: The Last Vampire (2009)
Runs around in school uniform with a big sword. Trailers are up. Up for simultaneous release in Hong Kong, Japan, & France. U.S. may see limited release. Maybe it’ll go directly goto DVD.

 

5. Joon Park (G.O.D. singer) – Dragonball Evolution (April 10, 2009)
As Yamcha, will be acting alongside Korean American star Jamie Chung and famous Chow Yun-fat. This is his gig after his minor role in 2008′s Speed Racer with Rain (Bi).
 

6. Lee Byung-Hyun – G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (Aug. 7, 2009)
Alongside Sienna Miller and Channing Tatum, he will be playing Storm Shadow. It seems that most of time that he’ll be covered up in white-ninja clothes, he’s really covered. His first debut in a film called “I Come With the Rain” (2008) with Josh Harnett showed off his English skills–it was impressive compared to a couple people ;X. Check that one out.

7. Rain (Jung Ji-Hoon) – Ninja Assassin (Nov. 25, 2009)
Will be the lead, accompanied by Fast&FuriousDUO Sung Kang & Rick Yune. Speed Racer (2008) got bad reviews but Rain was not the lead. The Wachowski Brothers are working with him again. Hopefully this will be his big success into Hollywood.

So last night I downloaded the free version of the TIME CRISIS game app for my iPhone & I’m obsessed. 

If you are easily amused, but have a short attention span, this is the game for you. But if you buy the full version, it only offers 3 levels–so not worth $5.99. I say, just use the free version, every now and then.

Otherwise, I think it’s just as good as the arcade version.

Instead of pressing on a pedal to duck & reload, you tilt the iPhone away from you.
